R/C and R/C/D Filter, Terminator and Clamp Networks
Our single-chip design and process technology offers 1 to 'n' channels of EMI/RFI suppression for high frequency applications requiring ESD protection for up to 14,000 volts. Integrating Resistors, Capacitors, Inductances and Schottky Diodes on the same chip offers the most compact and cost effective solution for reducing noise and interference on multiples of high speed data lines.

High Voltage Drive & Control Systems
Our USH5000 Smart Power technology allows virtually unlimited interconnection of circuits operating at up to 750 volts. In addition to high voltage drive circuitry, 5 - 15 volt analog and digital CMOS and bipolar control circuitry can be integrated on the same monolithic IC. Dielectric Isolation processing provides enhanced operating conditions and improved reliability.
Applications include automatic test equipment, flat panel displays, electrostatic printers, smart motor control, ultrasound imaging, telephone loop equipment, cellular, video/audio products.

Analog/Digital ASIC
Our USI6000 family of CMOS arrays achieves single-chip integration of analog-digital subsystems. Implement systems which require A/D, D/A and precision analog signal processing and interface functions.

CMOS/Bipolar Gate Arrays
Our ISO-CMOS series offers cost effective solutions for digital applications up to 2400 gates. 2,3 and 5 Micron technology achieves high speed and low power with operating range up to 25 volts. ISO-RAD processing provides radiation tolerance of 1 megarad.

Company Profile

Universal was founded in 1978 and has since been headquartered in a custom built plant located in the heart of the "Silicon Valley" at San Jose, California. The facility contains design, engineering, wafer fabrication, production test, prototype assembly, product and applications engineering, R&D, marketing and administration.

Universal specializes in integration through the following technology mixes that have been designed to operate on the same chip. RC/D; Analog/Digital; High Voltage Smart Power; CMOS, DMOS and Bipolar.

Universal's processes have been proven to be highly radiation tolerant for military and aerospace applications. These products are ideal in telecommunications, signal processing, instrumentation, robotics and computers.

Universal's objective is to provide cost effective and custom built single chip solutions through reduced space and power requirements, reduced development and production costs while maintaining high quality, high reliability and on time delivery.

Quality Assurance
Universal Semiconductor has established a rigorous quality system compliant with the following military requirements: MIL-M-38510,  Appendix A; MIL-Q-9858 and MIL-I-45208. Major defense contractors have certified Universal to supply MIL-STD-883C compliant product.

Wafer Fab
The wafer fab area comprises a Clean Room and  two modules, Class 10, which include the latest production equipments that are stringently maintained.

Testing
Universal has environmentally controlled class 10 and class 100 production testing within its facility.

Universal uses state of the art simulation and design verification tools to assure its customers fast turnaround with no design errors. EDA equipment includes:

  • Tanner and IC Editor on RISC based workstations and Pentium PCs.
